Abstract

This note uses a simple geometric device to derive rules for identifying the shape of delivered price schedules. It is shown that the predatory pricing is not compatible with profit maximisation in situations where consumers are characterised by identical local demand functions. Only if demand functions vary over space in particular ways is it likely that predatory pricing can be justified as a profit maximising response.
