Abstract

To investigate the well known dependence of 31P NMR chemical shift values on the ring size of phosphametallacycloalkanes, we compared the series of cyclic and acyclic complexes, Br(OC)4MnPPh2(CH2)nH (1a–1d), (η5-C5H5)Cl(OC)2WPPh2-(CH2)nH (2a–2c), (η5-C5H5)Me(OC)2WPPh2(CH2)nH (3a–3c), (OC)4-MnPPh2(CH2)n (4b–4d), (η5-C5H5)(OC)2WPPh2(CH2)n (5b, 5c) (n = 2 (a), 3 (b), 4 (c), 5 (d)). Different conformations have an obvious influence on the 31P and 13C chemical shift of metal adjacent ring atoms. The structure of phosphawolframacyclopentane (5b) in solution differs from the crystaline state.

Me(OC)2WPPh2(CH2) nH (3a–3c), (OC)4MnPPh2(CH2)n (4b–4d), (η5-C5H5)(OC)2WPPh2(CH2)n (5b, 5c) (n = 2 (a), 3 (b), 4 (c), 5 (d)) durchgeführt.
