Summary

Metallic tin and lead react with Co2(CO)8 in ether to give Sn[Co(Co)4]4 and Pb[Co(CO)4]4 reacts with triphenylphosphine to give Pb[Co(CO)3 P(C6H5)3]3 Co(CO)4 and P(Co(CO)3 P(C6H5)3]4. Lithium and sodium react with Pb[Co(CO)4]4 to form the salts LiCo(CO)4 and NaCo(CO)4. Polar solvents like ether or acetone coordinate to the lead atom in Pb[Co(CO)4]4, whereas the tin in Sn[Co(CO)4]4 seems not to be able to extend the coordination number.

Zusammenfassung

Metallisches Zinn und Blei reagieren mit Co2(CO)8 in Aether zu Sn[Co(CO)4]4 bzw. Pb[Co(CO)4]4.
