Preliminary X-ray data for horse and whale myoglobins

Keilin & Schmid (1948) have recently described methods of preparing large crystals of whale myoglobin. Myoglobin is a red pigment found in muscle cells and, like haemoglobin, combines reversibly with oxygen.
