Kalsilite, the simplest of the three known polymorphous forms of KAlSiO4, was isolated in minute quantities from volcanic rocks of S.W. Uganda in 1942 (Bannister & Hey, 1942) and synthesized in the laboratory for the first time in 1947 (Rigby & Richardson, 1947).
