Zusammenfassung

In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird die Zyklogenese in den mittleren Breiten vom Standpunkt der Vorticityproduktion aus betrachtet. Diese hängt im wesentlichen von der horizontalen und vertikalen Windscherung und von der freiwerdenden Kondensationswärme ab. An Hand einer aktuellen Wetterlage wird die Wechselwirkung dieser Faktoren hinsichtlich der Wirbelproduktion mit Hilfe der „Scale”-Analyse näher untersucht. Gleichzeitig wird auch eine neue Methode zur Abschätzung der dabei auftretenden Vertikalgeschwindigkeiten angegeben.

Summary

Cyclogenesis is viewed from the standpoint of the production of cyclonic vorticity. The theory shows that this production mainly depends on the vertical and on the horizontal wind shear and also on the released heat of condensation. With the aid of scale analysis the interaction between these factors affectiong vorticity production is investigated and demonstrated on a typical case of cyclonic development. In addition, a new method is derived to estimate the vertical velocity in connection with extratropical cyclogenesis.
