Summary
Rabbits have been exposed to single cutaneous infections with small, moderate or heavy doses of filariforme larvae of Strongyloides papillosus. Comparative studies were made on various clinical symptoms during the prepatent and patent periods, or until death occured.
Rabbits could be successfully immunized by multiple infections with small numbers of infective larvae and by multiple injections of vaccine. Development of immunity was proved by comparison of the clinical symptoms occuring after heavy challenging infections with those after heavy single infections.
Specific antibodies could be demonstrated by several serological methods.
