Abstract
In situ hybridisation of radioactive complementary RNA has been used to localise the G-C rich repetitious DNA satellite in chromosomes of the Japanese quail. The satellite sequences are located predominantly in the microchromosomes. No cross hybridisation is found with duck or chicken microchromosomes. The relationship between repetitious DNA, heterochromatin and nucleolus-organisation is discussed.
