Summary

Further data are given about the occurrence of homo- and heterothallism in Chaetomium Kunze ex.Fr. 50 strains including 18 species were examined, monospore cultures being isolated by micromanipulation. Among 13 species, not previously investigated in this respect, heterothallism was noted in only 2 cases (C. nozdrenkoae Serg. and C. subaffine Serg.).

In 18 strains of C. elatum Kunze ex Fr. homothallism as well as heterothallism was observed, while all 6 strains of C. cochliodes Palliser, in contradiction to other investigators, were identified as homothallic. Two opposite mating types were indicated in all heterothalic species and strains.

Zusammenfassung

Weitere Ergebnisse über das Vorkommen von Homo- und Heterothallie in 50 Stämmen aus 18 Arten von Chaetomium Kunze ex Fr. werden mitgeteilt. Unter 13 in dieser Richtung noch nicht untersuchten Arten wurde bei 11 Homo- und bei 2 (C. nozdrenkoae Serg. und C. subaffine Serg.) Heterothallie gefunden.

Unter den 18 untersuchten Stämmen von C. elatum Kunze ex Fr. gab es Homosowie auch Heterothallie, während für die 6 untersuchten Stämme von C. cochliodes Palliser, entgegen der Auffassung anderer Autoren, Homothallie nachgewiesen wurde. Bei allen umtersuchten heterothallischen Arten und Stämmen konnten je zwei Kreuzungstypen nachgewiesen werden.
