Abstract
The influence of exchange and correlation on the electron plasma frequency up to the fourth order terms in the wave number is investigated in the framework of the procedure ofBohm andPines. Applying the expression obtained to the calculation of the zero-point plasma energy, we found in the whole region of metallic densities the values which are negligibly higher than the RPA results derived in thek 2 approximation.
