Summary
Twenty milliliters of a 15% watery extract, and 3 ml of a 10% solution ofHibiscus colouring matter, prevented the growth ofMycobacterium tuberculosis when added to flasks containing 150 ml and 50 ml respectively of glycerine broth.
Ten milliliters of a 20%Hibiscus watery extract, and 3 ml of a 10% solution ofHibiscus colouring matter, inhibited the appearance of tubercle nodules when injected simultaneously with tubercle bacilli.
