Abstract
The hydrogenation of but-1-yne has been studied on low dispersity (10%<D<20%) Pt−Ru supported on silica catalysts. The activity calculated in terms of accessible Pt atoms was found to show a synergic effect in bimetallic catalysts with respect to the monometallic Pt catalyst Ru catalyst showed low activity and selectivity. The selectivity of bimetallic particles was found slightly lower than the one of Pt/SiO2. These characteristics were found to reflect the ability of the catalyst to form surface species, which are tied with the metal by multiple bonds.
