Abstract
An X-ray photographic method is described which allows the (111) and (¯1¯1¯1) faces of a suitably prepared slice of a single crystal of ZnSe to be distinguished. Etching in hot concentrated HCl produces triangular pits on the (111), zinc face, but merely roughens the (¯1¯1¯1) selenium face.
