Conclusions
Protection of the stream of metal in the steel-teeming-ladle-intermediate-ladle area of the continuous billet casting machine with the use of isostatically formed refractory graphite-containing tubes has been introduced in the Converter Shop of the Azov Steel Combine. The tube is butt joined to the collector nozzle, and the lower portion of it is submerged below the level of the metal in the intermediate ladle.
The processes of wear of the tubes and the factors influencing it were studied. The use of the tubes makes it possible to increase the quality of the metal, to stabilize the teeming process, and to improve the working conditions for the operating personnel of the continuous billet casting machine.
