2016, GeomorphologyCitation Excerpt :Runoff from the badlands at the study site flows through a series of rills and small gullies located within the alluvial apron, and then into the FDC. This description fits more closely with that of Engelen (1973), who notes that the lower part of the pediment (alluvial apron) is either dissected by headward cutting channels of a larger ephemeral stream downstream, or it is of low gradient without pronounced channels. In addition, the deposited sediments on the alluvial apron are likely temporary, and will be partly transported during the next major runoff event (Engelen, 1973).
