Abstract
IN 1955, some of us published the results of the determination of the amino-acid composition of hæmoglobins A, B (also known as S), C and F1–3. In that work we used a modification of the column chromatographic method of Stein and Moore. We were recently able to study a family of which some members are carriers of hæmoglobin E. We took advantage of this opportunity to determine the amino-acid composition of this hæmoglobin by the use of the method mentioned in the previous publication1.
