Trucost assesses US firms' carbon exposure
Article Type: News From: International Journal of Climate Change Strategies and Management, Volume 1, Issue 4
Financial risks to companies listed on the S&P500 index of some of the largest US firms would vary greatly under a cap-and-trade scheme, according to a study carried out by environmental research consultancy Trucost. Carbon costs would amount to less than 1 per cent of revenues for 203 firms. But 71 firms, in sectors such as the power, chemicals and oil industry, could see earnings fall by 10 per cent or more, the study shows. Details can be seen at: www.irrcinstitute.org/pdf/PR_6_2_09.pdf
