Article Type: Editorial From: International Journal of Climate Change Strategies and Management, Volume 1, Issue 3

Welcome to the third issue of International Journal of Climate Change Strategies and Management. As usual, readers will find here a wide selection of papers on aspects of climate change management, this time from North America, Asia, Europe and Africa.

In this editorial, I would like to refer to the issue of vulnerability of human populations to global environmental change as a whole and to climate change in particular. This matter has now become one of the main areas of attention and shows a great need for research and international action. However, much of the research into vulnerability is not designed to feed directly into decision making and policy, creating a gap between the knowledge created by researchers and what is required by decision makers.

This matter is in fact tackled in a book published by the London-based publishers Earthscan, which launched a volume entitled Assessing Vulnerability to Global Environmental Change. It discusses vulnerability as the central theme and brings together many different applications from disaster studies, climate change impact studies and several other fields and provides the most comprehensive synthesis of definitions, theories, formalization and applications to date, illustrated with examples from different disciplines, regions and periods, and from local through to regional, national and international levels.

This journal will follow developments related to vulnerability to global environmental change with great interest and shall keep its readers informed on the latest developments as well as on future trends.

Enjoy your reading!
