A two-colour TEA Xe I-CO2 laser (Xe I at 2.03 mu m, CO2 at 10.59 mu m) has been realised and the use of carbon dioxide and inert gases in one active medium is shown to be promising. The optimum relations of mixture components have been determined and the spectral, energy and temporal performances have been investigated.
