Magnetic permeability in superconducting arrays

Abstract

A theoretical description of the complex linear rf magnetic permeability in superconducting arrays is presented. The treatment includes the effect of pinning flux flow, and flux creep together with the elastic coupling, through the flux lines, between adjacent regions and, therefore, between the grains. The average permeability is a function of the ratio between the granular (or intergranular) size and the elastic coupling depth. The results are expected to be valid over a wide range of frequencies, magnetic inductions, and temperatures. Also, a theoretical description of the magnetic-field penetration depth is presented.
