Abstract
Discrepancies between two published sets of Anderson Hamiltonian parameter values for mixed-valence obtained from electron-spectroscopic studies [S.-J. Oh et al., Phys. Rev. B 37, 2861 (1988); F. Patthey et al., ibid. 36, 7697 (1987)] are discussed. It is shown that these discrepancies mainly stem from the different Yb valences of the two samples studied. It is pointed out that the parameter set which puts in the Kondo regime is more consistent with other physical measurements such as the magnetic susceptibility and x-ray-absorption-edge spectroscopy.
