In den Keimlingen einer rezessiven, monohybrid spaltenden Mutante vonArabidopsis thaliana ist die photochemische wie die enzymatische Chlorophyllbildung aus Protochlorophyll blockiert.

Es kann aus normalen, etiolierten Pflanzen ein wäßriger Extrakt hergestellt werden, der in der Mutante den normalen Ablauf des Hydrierungsprozesses induziert.

Die Möglichkeit wird diskutiert, daß die photochemische und die enzymatische Protochlorophyllreduktion zumindest in ihrem letzten Reaktionsglied zusammenhängen.
