Abstract

The structures of single crystal lithia-silicate and quartz are characterized by polarized infrared reflection spectroscopy (PIRRS). The experimental apparatus and technique for PIRRS, along with electron channelling of lithia-disilicate, are discussed. Vibrational assignments are made for infrared reflection peaks of lithiadisilicate crystals and lithia-metasilicate crystals.
