Abstract
Rate equations for the 0.6328 μ He-Ne-amplifier are solved. Photondensity, bandwidth and gain are calculated as a function of inversion density and the density of excited Ne atoms. At the point nearest to the threshold a maximum gain of 1.1×105 and a minimum bandwidth ofΔv=3×103 cps was experimentally realized. Good agreement was found between experimental and theoretical results.
