Methods for the spectrophotometric determination of thorium and tetravalent uranium by means of the azodye solochrome fast grey R.A.S.

Summary

Two methods are described for the spectrophotometric determination of microgram amounts of thorium and tetravalent uranium in mixed solvents employing the azodye Solochrome Fast Grey R.A.S. as the photometric reagent. These two elements react with the dyestuff in hydrochloric acid and acetate buffered methanolic solution respectively forming colored complexes which can be applied for the quantitative spectrophotometric determination of both thorium and uranous ions. 5 μg thorium or 20 μg uranium(IV)/10 ml measuring solution can still be determined with a relatively high accuracy.

Zusammenfassung

Es werden 2 Methoden zur spektrophotometrischen Bestimmung von Mikrogrammengen Thorium und 4 wertigem Uran in Lösungsmittelgemischen unter Verwendung des Azofarbstoffes Solochrome Fast Grey R.A.S. als photometrischem Reagens beschrieben. Diese beiden Elemente reagieren in salzsaurer bzw. acetatgepufferter methanolischer Lösung mit dem Farbstoff unter Bildung gefärbter Komplexe, die zur quantitativen spektrophotometrischen Bestimmung von Thorium- und Uranionen herangezogen werden können. 5 μg Thorium bzw. 20 μg Uran(IV)/10 ml Meßlösung sind noch mit relativ hoher Genauigkeit bestimmbar.
