Effects of Synthetic Angiotensin on Plasma Free Fatty Acid and Blood Glucose-levels

Abstract

RECENTLY, a number of investigators reported that the vasoactive peptides with smaller molecular weights, oxytocin, vasopressin and pitressin, decrease or increase plasma free fatty acid (FFA) levels in animals1 and human subjects2–4. These peptides were also found to cause mobilization of FFA from the rat epididymal adipose tissues in vitro5–8. The present investigation was undertaken to examine the effects of a potent vasoactive peptide, angiotensin, on the plasma FFA and blood glucose-levels in dogs.
