Short period teleseismic S waves

Abstract

SHORT range observations of short period S waves are useful in determining the distribution of zones of high and low anelastic attenuation in the vicinity of island arcs1–3. We show here that S waves are also recorded at some stations at teleseismic ranges and that these recordings can be used to study anelastic attenuation.
