Abstract
ON the invitation of the British Government, the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (Conseil Permanent International pour 1'Exploration de la Men) arranged to hold its thirty-seventh annual meeting in Edinburgh during October 3–11. The occasion was the more welcome since it was the first on which the Council had met in Scotland, while it is twenty year since it last met in Great Britain (London) in october 1929. Arrangements for the meeting were made by the Scottish Home Department.
