Abstract
As part of an investigation of the response of titanium alloys to heat treatment, longitudinal metallographic sections were prepared through the fracture region of broken tensile specimens. Metallographic examination of the tensile fractures of commercial titanium–aluminium–manganese (92–4–4) alloy (C-130AM), heat-treated to produceacicular alpha in a beta matrix, has resulted in the discovery of structures tentatively identified as mechanical twins.
