Abstract
SEVERAL workers1–4 have reported the presence of monophosphoinositide (MPI) in phospholipid fractions originating in brain tissue. Only Dittmer and Dawson3, however, claim to have isolated a pure sample of a phospholipid analysing as a simple MPI, and they did not elucidate its structure. Brockerhoff and Ballou4 have suggested that the D-glycerol 1-(L-myomositol 1-phosphate) residue is contained in brain MPI, but they did not isolate the parent lipid or its deacylation product in a pure state.
