Abstract

The unstable radicals SCI and SBr have been prepared by photolysis of S2Cl2, SCl2 and S2Br2 respectively, and by passing the stable molecules through a microwave discharge in the presence of argon in large excess. The radicals are trapped in an argon matrix at 9 K. The i.r.-spectra and the results of force constant calculations are reported.
