Abstract

The copious and simultaneous production of K∗0(890) and K∗±(890) in the final states ppKS0K±π (6453 events) has been used to evlauate the electromagnetic mass splitting between the neutral and charged modes of the K(890). The new measurement is in good agreement with previous determinations and inconsistent with recent implications for hadron spectroscopy based on the standard gauge model. A brief discussion of this discrepancy is presented.
