Proton scattering on doubly even selenium isotopes

Abstract

The scattering of 6.4 MeV protons on the doubly even nuclei 76, 78, 80, 82Se was investigated, measuring the differential cross section and polarization for the elastic scattering and the differential cross section for the inelastic scattering. The excitation of the first 2+ level was analysed by means of DWBA calculations. Deduced β2 values agree with those obtained by B(E2) measurements. The simultaneous description of the elastic and inelastic scattering was found to be valid and resulted in a better determination of the surface absorption diffuseness aD. Supported by the data of the elastic scattering polarization a relation aDβ2 seems to be valid.
