Abstract

The vacuum polarization corrections of the muonic 4f → 3d and 5g → 4f transitions in Bi and Pb have been measured. The over-all accuracy obtained for the vacuum polarization correction is 1%. Experiment and theory agree if higher order corrections are taken into account.
