Determination of the liquid composition in experimental samples: discrepancies between microprobe analysis and other methods

Abstract

Some microprobe analyses of glasses from experimental samples are proved or implied to have different compositions from the equilibrium liquids present under the experimental conditions. Before a microprobe analysis of a glass is accepted as that of the liquid, its validity must be ascertained by alternative methods.
