Abstract

We have solved the Ginzburg-Landau (GL) equations for cylinders is an axial magnetic field for various κ-values and radii a and found the largest magnetic field, the superheating field Ho, for which solutions of the GL equations exist. Ho has a minimum at about 1.58Hc (Hc ≏ bulk thermodynamic critcal field for a ≈ 4.2 λ(T) for all κ < 0.5.
