Abstract

The nonlinear optical properties of wurtzite-type CdS and CdSe epitaxial layers were investigated at high density optical excitation. Absorption and luminescence were studied with standard ns pump-and-probe spectroscopy at low temperatures. Optical gain was measured by the stripe-length method. The nonlinear spectra gave some insight in the physical processes relevant for optical gain in II-VI epilayers.
