Abstract

The ferrimagnetic system (GdxY1−x)Co2 has been studied by the Mössbauer effect of 155Gd and by the NMR of 165Ho as a substitutional impurity. The data are interpreted in terms of a simple model which involves transferred hyperfine fields from the lanthanide and cobalt ions and which allows for crystal field quenching of the holmium moment.
