Abstract

A survey of the pattern of 34 sesquiterpene lactones in 24 species belonging to the genera Centaurea, Chartolepis, Leuzea, Psephellus, Stizolophus and Zoegea provides further information on the relationships within the mentioned taxa. The species of genera Chartolepis, Psephellus and Centaurea subg. Hyalinella have been shown to be chemically distinct.
