Abstract

The compounds [Ni(tu)6]X2 (X = NO3, ClO4, BF4; tu = thiourea), [Ni(tu)2X2]n (X = ClO4, NO3), [Ni(tu)4]X2 (X = F, 12SO4) and [Ni(tu)3(DMF)SO4]2 · DMF, are described and their structures discussed. The six co-ordinated polymeric complexes [Ni(tu)2X2]n (X = NO3, ClO4) are considered to involve bridging thiourea ligands. The complexes [Ni(tu)4]X2 (X = F, 12 SO4) are shown to have a square planar configuration. The species [Ni(tu)4]2+ is also formed in acetone solutions of the complexes [Ni(tu)6]X2 (X = ClO4, BF4). The assignment of stereochemistry is based on spectral (u.v. and i.r.), magnetic and conductivity data.
