Abstract

The isothermal kinetic analysis of sodium ferrite formation by reaction between Na2O2 and FeSO4 shows that the rate-controlling step is nuclei growth. This mechanism differs from that established in the case of the BaO2-FeSO4 system (diffusion-controlled). The appearance of Fe2O3 as intermediate here might be the primary cause of this different behaviour. Non-isothermal procedures appear unsuccessful in our analysis of the reaction between Na2O2 and FeSO4.
