Abstract

The electrochemical reduction of SO2-amine adducts [amine = (CH3)2NH and (CH3)3N] was investigated at platinum electrodes by means of cyclic voltammetry and controlled potential electrolysis. The mechanism of the electrode reaction is discussed. Dithionite was found to be the reduction product in acetonitrile, whereas in methanol only hydrogen was formed.
