Summary
The paper is a report about the gas chromatographic applications of the Mülheim Computer System (MCS) since its installation at the end of 1968. The advantages of a large computer with time-sharing capability are discussed and new applications of the system in the field of automatisation and control of GC-instruments are described. Gas chromatography is only one of several real time jobs handled by the PDP 10 besides the batch mode computations for chemical research. Not more than 5 % of the total computing time is used for gas chromatography.
