Summary
The arsonic group in organic compounds is determined titrimetrically in dimethylformamide using sodium methoxide. Bromophenol red is recommended as a visual indicator. One mole of the titrant is cosumed per mole of the compound. Phenolic hydroxyl group does not interfere. The precision is ± 0.2 %. Dimethylformamide with phenolphthalein or benzene with thymol blue may also be used but hydroxyl group if present interfere.
