Summary
A method is described for the manometric determination of sulfur in 3–5 mg samples of an organic compound. The organic compound and four atmospheres of hydrogen (at ambient temperature) are sealed in a quartz bomb. After firing at 900° the bomb is opened in a vacuum analytical system where the hydrogen sulfide is separated and measured. Sulfur analyses having a standard deviation of ≦ 0.1% by weight are readily obtained.
