Abstract
The control of a flexible truss structure is discussed with respect to robustness against parameter uncertainty and high frequency unmodelled dynamics. Emphasis is placed upon providing vibration suppression and improving system damping in the presence of these uncertainties. A robust control design is achieved by simultaneously constraining both the linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) performance index and the H ∞ norm of a specific disturbance transfer matrix. Closed loop simulation is then performed to determine the effectiveness of the control design.
