Vergrößerte sekundäre Einschnürung des Chromosoms C9 bei Mutter und Kind

Enlarged secondary constriction of the chromosome C9 in mother and child

Summary

In an infant with multiple malformations (hydrocephalus internus, anal atresia, aganglionic segment of the colon, low set, dysplastic ears, mongoloid slant of the eyes, and furrowed tongue) the chromosome analysis of 100 metaphases revealed an enlarged secondary constriction of the C9 chromosome in 25%. The same anomaly could be observed in the healthy mother of the proband. Both maternal grand parents showed a frequency of more than 20% of unspecific chromosomal aberrations. Three further relatives showed a normal karyotype. It is unlike that there is a causality between the malformations of the proband and the structural defect of the chromosome C9.
