Chemical modification of silica surfaces

Abstract

The formation of phenylaerosil via silica hydride in the gas phase and the subsequent introduction of nitro and amino groups in solution has been followed using IR and UV spectroscopy. The direct reaction of aminophenyltriethoxysilane (APhS) with the silica surface has also been investigated.
