Summary
The fluorescence of metal complexes of clioquinol (5-chloro-7-iodo-8-hydroxyquinoline) in micellar media is described. The relationship between fluorescence intensity and experimental variables was studied in order to develop a procedure for the fluorimetric determination of clioquinol with In(III) in CTAB medium. Linear calibrations were obtained in the ranges 5×10−5–2.5×10−6 mol/l and 2.5×10−6–5×10−8 mol/l. The method was successfully applied to the determination of clioquinol in pharmaceutical preparations.
