Closed expressions for mean lifetimes in the exciton model

Abstract

The exact solution of the time-integrated Pauli master equation of the exciton model for an arbitary initial configuration is derived. An application for the calculation of spectra in the neutron-induced reactions on46Ti is discussed. An interpretation of the solution is given in terms of the forward and backward transitions which lead to equilibration of the system.
